Community Housing Cymru is calling for five dedicated senior leaders to help shape the Welsh social housing sector as part of its board of directors.
We are looking to appoint three members from within the RSL sector in Wales and two independent members to join our current board from November.
Our board members ensure that the organisation can continue to make Wales a country where good housing is a basic right for all.
As the membership body representing housing associations, we influence positive policy change that encourages sustainable and stable financing, good governance practices, and sector improvements. We act as a hub to bring members together to learn, grow, challenge, and collectively address the opportunities and challenges in our sector.
We align to the good governance practices of the sector, and as such are recruiting several Board positions as colleagues have served their full term.
Current board member and Techniquest chief executive officer Lesley Kirkpatrick said: “I am incredibly proud to sit on the Community Housing Cymru board as an independent member, and use my 15 years in senior leadership, across a range of sectors, to help drive valuable progress across Wales’ progressive social housing sector.
“This incredibly rewarding role enables me to draw on my strengths in driving change and attaining long-term security for valuable not-for-profit and charitable organisations, which make a real difference to people’s lives.
“I also fundamentally believe that enhancing educational and employability opportunities for the next generation is key to community and societal growth, and I am delighted to promote this throughout my work at CHC.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in truly making a positive impact on social housing in Wales to apply to join this board.”
We are now looking for five new board members, including members from the registered social landlord (RSL) sector and members of independent organisations in Wales.
RSL board members
For the three board members connected to the RSL sector in Wales, we are seeking senior level experience gained from any RSL in Wales and are especially interested in hearing from candidates in North Wales.
You may be a Chief Executive, Director, Chair, Board Member or hold another senior appointment and be looking for an opportunity to influence the sector from a different perspective. While you may have a specific area of expertise, you will be a seasoned professional who understands the breadth of challenge, regulation, and ongoing changes to the sector. We are also seeking previous or current experience as a Non-Executive Director/Trustee.
Independent board members
For the independent board member vacancies, we are seeking executive experience from other sectors. Ideally you will have experience of working in providing services to customers. Experience of good governance practices, public affairs, lobbying, and advocacy are all valuable skills for our Board.
We are also seeking current or previous experience as a Non-Executive Director/Trustee for these posts; however, we are excited to see this experience gained in any sector.
