Training : 2405 — Introduction to Housing Associations - 2405
This course is comprised of 2 half-day sessions. Part 1 will be held on Thursday 11 January 2024 (1 - 4.30pm) and Part 2 will be held on Friday 12 January 2024 (9.30am - 1pm).
Who is this for?
Staff and committee members who have recently joined a housing association and/or people from other organisations who wish to have an understanding of how housing associations work. This is a basic course and assumes little prior knowledge of Housing Associations.
Why should you attend?
Staff or committee members who have recently joined a housing association can find the wide range of policies, regulations and jargon a minefield. This course will help to simplify the role of and activities carried out by housing associations, as well as demystifying some of the jargon.
Course overview
This course aims to provide participants with a wider understanding of the role housing associations play in providing social housing in Wales.
By the end of the course participants will have:
Examined the importance of involving tenants in the provision of social housing
Identified the key financial and legal issues facing housing associations
Discussed the history and governance of housing associations
