Understanding the energy behaviours of social housing tenants
Monitoring energy usage in homes across Wales continues to be a vital component in determining the best routes for increasing energy efficiency across social landlords' stock, as well as keeping costs down for tenants.
In this session, Senior Research Fellow at Cardiff University Dr Simon Lannon will present his findings from a recently completed project examining the energy behaviours of social housing tenants.
Senior Lecturer in Architectural Tectonics, Dr Satish BK will then outline the working summary of the ongoing project “My House, My Rules: Examining the Impact of cultural behaviour on air quality in Super-insulated Homes", which specifically studies the impact of cooking on indoor air quality in British-Asian homes in comparison with white British homes.
The session will cover:
- Evidence demonstrating the differences between expected behaviour and what happens in social tenant's homes.
- The correlation between the social and cultural values and the energy behaviour of households.
- The benefits to landlords in creating their own data sets, together with some of the pitfalls.
